Delisle (°De): A Historical Temperature Scale

The Delisle scale, denoted as °De, was developed by French astronomer Joseph-Nicolas Delisle in the 18th century. This scale is unique in that it measures temperature in reverse; higher temperatures correspond to lower degree values. Although it has fallen out of common use, the Delisle scale remains a point of interest in the history of thermometry and the development of temperature measurement systems.

Newton (°N): Isaac Newton's Temperature Scale

The Newton scale, represented as °N, was proposed by Sir Isaac Newton in the early 18th century. It is a linear temperature scale based on the freezing and boiling points of water, divided into 33 degrees. Although not widely adopted, the Newton scale is notable for its historical significance in the evolution of temperature measurement and its role in early scientific experimentation.
